Dye Vs. Pigment, What is the Difference?

Dye and pigment inks are quite different and thus each have their own benefits. Differences include:

  • How they behave on paper
  • Their chemical makeup
  • UV resistance (resistance to fading when exposed to daylight over time)
  • Water (or smear) resistance
  • Gamut (the range of colors able to be reproduced)

Knowing how each ink type works can help you when deciding which kind of printer to buy.

Updates to our IBR-SP-LC103C, IBR-SP-LC103CS,
IEP-SP-T786 products

This April, InkOwl acquired stock of a new version of auto-reset chips for the Brother LC103-series as well as a new version of single-use chips for the Epson 786-series. This new version is up to date with all firmware updates done on these printer series up to roughly the month of March.

If you are currently using our refill products for one of the printers listed below, and your InkOwl chips have stopped working after a firmware update, contact us to see if these new chips can solve the problem.
